Denver Health—Colorado’s essential safety-net health system and a nationally recognized academic center—is seeking an accomplished Emergency Medicine physician to lead the Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Safety Department (RMPDS) as its next Executive Director.
This role is uniquely suited for EM physicians and medical toxicologists who thrive at the intersection of clinical care, public health, system leadership, and academic innovation. RMPDS is one of the nation’s most respected poison centers, providing critical, 24/7 medical toxicology expertise while driving internationally impactful research, surveillance, and education.

Your Leadership Responsibilities
Strategic & Clinical Leadership
Guide all operational, clinical, and administrative components of RMPDS
Ensure high-quality, efficient toxicology consultation and call center performance
Maintain clinical excellence and service innovation in a fast-evolving field
Visibility & Advocacy
Represent RMPDS at state and national levels, advancing toxicology best practices
Lead public health engagement and help shape policy across the region
Academic & Research Leadership
Direct research programs, surveillance initiatives, and scholarly output
Strengthen toxicology education for residents, fellows, and students
Foster a culture of inquiry, evidence-based practice, and innovation
Organizational & Financial Stewardship
Manage operating budgets and resource allocation
Develop new strategic partnerships and programmatic growth opportunities
Drive transparency, quality improvement, and system efficiency
People Leadership & Culture
Mentor and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary team
Champion inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning
What You Bring
MD/DO, board-certified
Expertise in Emergency Medicine, with experience or training in Medical Toxicology strongly preferred
7–9+ years of progressive leadership experience in complex medical or operational environments
Eligibility for Colorado medical licensure
Strong communication, strategy, financial, and analytical capabilities
